What if you could start all over again? What if all your wrongs were made right? What if all your sins were erased? What if all your anxieties ceased and peace took over? What if all your heavy burden is lifted away? What if the darkness is expelled by light and the night is turned into day? As this year comes to an end, the new year springs forth, bringing expectations of blessings and goodness.

Most people wait until the beginning of the new year to start a new thing. A resolution, perhaps hoping this time, it will be different, this time you will lose the weight, this time you will quit smoking and drinking, this time you will be more prayerful, this time you will be a nice person. However, when you fail, you then wait for another new year to come by to start again with your list of resolutions. However, God, in His generosity and infinite kindness, offers a new start every morning. How good is that?

Lamentations 3:22-23 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
    his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

God gives you the opportunity to start new every morning, an opportunity to start all over again. When you repent, He restores you back to life, He lets his light shine upon you and expels all the darkness. He gives you opportunity to unload your burdens and take on His yoke, which is easy and His burden, that is light. He has redeemed you and set you free. He blesses you with His peace.

The essence of life is to spring forth. When a tree is healthy, it will spring forth and bears fruit. If you are full of life, you will spring forth as well and give life to everything you touch. However, sin hinders us from springing forth. Our wrongdoings will obstruct the Holy Spirit to recreate life in us and spring forth life into others. Unforgiveness towards others can open doors for the devil to destroy us.

If you desire to spring forth and yield fruits, but have been unsuccessful in the past, the easiest way is to sit in the presence of God, in silence, and prayerfully ask Him to reveal to you your wrongdoings and ask Him to help you examine your conscience. Note down the things that you need to repent to God and reconcile with others. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a precious sacrament of the Catholic Church. It is a sacrament of grace and mercy. It cleanses you, sanctifies you and helps you to spring forth. Receiving God’s grace and mercy, once a week in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, will greatly benefit your soul. If you are a non-Catholic and wish to become a Catholic, contact your nearby Catholic Church and they will assist you. If you are a lapsed Catholic, it’s never late to come back into God’s arms of mercy and grace. God is waiting for you to spring forth.

The burden of sin, unforgiveness and bitterness will result in destroying life within you as they are the fruits of the devil, and nothing good springs forth out of it. Therefore, it is vital that you repent and let go of all wrongdoings, unforgiveness and bitterness towards others. If you are on a journey and carrying a heavy backpack that weighs as much as you, you probably won’t be able to carry it, let alone move forward. Most people have a cargo attached to them and no wonder, instead of moving forward, they are moving towards self-destruction.

God is giving you a new start every morning, to let go of those burdens and cleanse yourself of all unrighteousness, that you may be redeemed and live a life of blessings. God is inviting you and giving you the opportunity to let go of the past, let go of all wrongdoing, unforgiveness and bitterness as He brings forth life in you. He is doing a new thing!

Isaiah 43:18-19 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

18 Do not remember the former things,
    or consider the things of old.
19 I am about to do a new thing;
    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.
