Jesus said to St Faustina that the Feast of His Mercy is the last hope of salvation (Diary 965).  St Paul mentions in his letter to the Romans that where sin abounds, grace abounds much more. Through Divine Mercy, mankind has received abounding grace, and it is the last hope of salvation, which means we are living in a world where sin abounds like never before, and grace abounds even greater than ever before. Sin is so prevalent today that many have lost their consciousness of sin.

Before Divine Mercy, people had to expiate for their sins through penances, indulgences, and in purgatory. However, on the feast of Divine Mercy Sunday, we receive a special grace for the expiation of all our sins. The second coming of the Lord draws near. Therefore, extraordinary grace is now available to us, which was not available before, thus reducing our purgatory time considerably. Pray and ask God to help you understand why we now have this extraordinary grace, where we can expiate for our sins and not spend a long time in purgatory. The reason could be that purgatory is not a permanent place, and at the second coming of Jesus, there will be a final judgement and no time for expiation of sins in purgatory for those present at the second coming of Jesus. Their purgatory time must therefore be shortened, or they will have to go through strenuous sufferings for their sins, in a short duration. Therefore, we now have a special grace for the expiation of our sins, thus shortening our purgatory. Divine Mercy is the last hope of salvation.

Today, on Good Friday, we begin the Divine Mercy Novena. Let us prepare ourselves to receive this special grace. We also pray for others, so that they too may receive these graces. We must always be prepared for Jesus as we do not know the hour of His coming. All we know is that His coming draws near.
