Most people think that it is too ambitious to become a saint. Others think that it is unachievable, and then there are others who think that sainthood is only a vocation for the few chosen ones. Sainthood is for everyone, if you want to be in heaven, you must want to be a saint. If you love Jesus, you must want to be a saint, because only saints go to heaven, and only saints are with Jesus for eternity.

In order words, all those in heaven are saints. Not all the saints are canonised, and therefore, we have All Saints’ Day on the 1st of November every year, to celebrate the feast of all the saints in heaven. Not wanting to be a saint is wanting to go to hell, which is most dreadful.

In this life, our primary goal is to love God and do His will, because that alone is the surest way of becoming a saint. Make a resolution this Lent to love God above all else and walk in His ways.  Therefore, prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.  Like obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires that you formerly had in ignorance.  Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; for it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy’ (1 Peter 1:13-16).
