Tired? Stressed? Take a multivitamin. Chances are you will still be tired and stressed. The solution does not lie in a pill but it’s rather a matter of the will. Everyone, at some stage, comes to point in their lives, when they realise they can’t go any further, they are too weary and they want to give up. Have you ever started a project and then gave up because you were frustrated with the failures? Did you surrender to your circumstances and accept defeat because you never had the strength to go on?

We have all experienced tiredness, we known how it feels when we don’t have strength anymore. Some have felt it more than others; times of illness, the aftereffects of a strenuous workout, the stressfulness of a crisis and the daily challenges of life.

EaglesWhat if I told you that there is a way in which your strength can be renewed, your latter days can be better than your former, you can come up triumphant from every ordeal you face and you will be able to worker harder than ever before, yet don’t get tired, stressed or defeated.

Not only does it sound too good to be true, but it’s much easier than you expect. To renew your strength all you have to do is ‘Wait on the Lord’. You probably thought you had to do something complicated or smarter to beat the stress out. All problems in life can be solved by child-like faith in God. He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you (Matthew 17:20 NIV).”

Waiting does not mean watching time pass by or worrying about your situation. Waiting means resting on God’s promises, worshiping and remaining in His presence, seeking and serving Him. As a result of your waiting, you will be rewarded with strength, power and victory.

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40: 29-31 ESV).

I have held on to this promise of God many times, and have come up triumphant every time. Through the trials of life I have known that when I wait on the Lord, even if I reach rock bottom, I come up soaring like an eagle.

If you are like an eagle you know that challenges don’t defeat you, they define you. These challenges are only training drills, they help you get stronger, they build your spiritual muscles and they equip you to rise further and higher. Sometimes, old people say they are done and want to give up. Some others say they are women and hence not as strong, while there are those that say, ‘I am just a child’. Age has nothing to do with God’s promises. It says, ‘They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength’. God’s promise is not limited to your age or gender.

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength (Isaiah 40:29 ESV). Therefore, mount up your wings as eagles and fly above and beyond your circumstance, fly away from your defeat and fly upwards towards the mountaintop, for that’s where you belong.
