The main reason for most failures in life is due to procrastination. How can anyone succeed at anything, if they never get started at it! Procrastination can be due to laziness, busyness, intimidation of the task, dread of failures, tiredness, lack of motivation, a wounded broken heart or because it’s habitual to procrastinate.

Don’t put it off; do it now! Don’t rest until you do! (Proverbs 6:4). Why is there an urgency to do things and why is it so wrong to procrastinate? The reason being, we all have a set amount of time to fulfil our destiny, to finish our assignment, to accomplish our mission. We all have a specific assignment that can be completed only by us. If we don’t do it, it will never be done and when our time is over, we will be accountable for what was given to us, our time and our gifts.

The man who has knowledge of how to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin (James 4:17). Procrastination is not just sinful but procrastination can be extremely dangerous as it can lead to eternal death. “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts” (Hebrew 3:15). Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). If a person delays accepting Jesus today, he may lose his salvation, because for him tomorrow might never come.

How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog, it’s here a little while, then it’s gone (James 4:14). Death is inevitable. No one knows the exact time, the exact moment that would be their last. Many postpone their salvation thinking there is still a lot of time. They think now they will have fun, enjoy life, be part of the world and then when they are old and it’s near their end, they will get saved and live a life pleasing to God. No one knows when it’s going to be their last breath. It’s not just the old that die, people die at any age.

Anyone who is among the living has hope; even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! (Ecclesiastes 9:4). It means that even an underdog has a second chance, but the person once powerful and now dead, has none. Time is a powerful resource, time can change destiny, and timing is everything. Whatever in life you postpone, don’t ever, never put off your salvation. If you die unsaved, you are forgotten, you are lost, and nothing can be done to reverse it. Today is the day to be saved. Today is the day to repent of your sins. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Today is the day to dedicate your life to God.

???????????Many don’t want to be saved because they think heaven is a boring place and hell is where all the fun is. This is a lie. Hell is a place of isolation and unbearable tormentation. Heaven is a place of fellowship and eternal joy. Would any of you ever buy a house or go to live in a place without inspecting the house, examining the neighbourhood, the living conditions, the climate, etc.? Yet many decide to go to hell for eternal damnation, not knowing it is a place of unimaginable agonising punishment. Don’t believe all the false publicity about hell; the devil is a liar, a deceiver. Please don’t get fooled.

For those that have accepted the free gift of salvation and are saved by God’s grace, there is a burden and a restlessness in our hearts for the unsaved, a desire to let the Gospel be known to everyone, a soft gentle voice of the Holy Spirit that reminds you constantly. “The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few” (Matthew 9:37). If we, that are few, procrastinate, we will be accountable for the harvest that is lost. Many believers get caught up in the cares of this life and therefore lose their focus on God’s Kingdom. Jesus said unto him, “No man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.”(Luke 9:62). We are saved to serve God and fulfil His will.  We know the general will of God through His words. We know God’s specific will for our lives when we spend time in prayer fellowshipping with Him.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). When God is first in our lives and His will precedes our will, we will sow and reap eternal reward. The Holy Spirit gives us various gifts for the purpose of edifying and building others. If we don’t use our gifts, we will deprive the body of Christ from what belongs to them.

Before Jesus gave up His Spirit on the cross, he said, “It is finished”. He completed His assignment by dying on the cross and saving us all. When our time is up, what will be our last words: “It is finished”, “I didn’t get started”, “I quitted”, “I was afraid” or “It’s incomplete”. What would God say to us in return: “Well done, my good and faithful servant” or “I never knew you, depart from me you who practise lawlessness.”

Our assignments may not be easy. There will be persecution; there will be sacrifices; it may be painful, but the pain of not doing God’s will is far much greater than the little afflictions we may have to go through in order to complete our mission. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us (Romans 8:18). If we procrastinate now, we will regret it for eternity. If we finish our mission, we will be blessed now and for eternity.
